Support
Need help or found a bug? Email firetoad42@gmail.com. Tell us your iPhone model and iOS version, the app version (Settings → About) and what happened. We usually reply within one business day. Please don't include building owners' or other people's personal details.
Getting started
- Open Settings and add your practitioner details (name and accreditation). They appear on reports.
- Add a building, then its current fire safety schedule. Pick each measure and its standard of performance from the dropdowns.
- Tap Start site inspection and record each measure: tick what you verified, mark it satisfactory, defective or N/A, and add a note.
- Tap Complete inspection to see the assessment report, then Print / Save as PDF or Generate AFSS statement.
Putting your company on reports
Open Toolkit → Companies and add your company's name, logo, ABN, licence and contact details. On any report, choose the company from Company on this report above the report. Each report remembers its company, and new reports use the one you picked last. Pick Fire Toad (app default) to go back to the standard header.
Sharing the report and the AFSS
On iPhone, Share PDF on the report makes an A4 PDF and opens the share sheet, so you can email it, save it to Files or AirDrop it. Email report attaches the PDF to a new email, addressed to the building owner when their email is on file; it appears when Mail is set up on your iPhone. Print / Save as PDF opens the print dialog. Generate AFSS statement creates the official NSW form as a Word document and opens the share sheet.
Fire Toad Pro
Fire Toad is free to download. Recording buildings, schedules and inspections, photos, report history, the Toolkit and backups are always free, and your records are always yours.
Your first 3 reports include everything: Share PDF, Email report, Print / Save as PDF, your company branding and each report's AFSS document. Corrections to a report within 30 days of first completing it don't use another one; completing it again after that counts as a new report. After that, Fire Toad Pro unlocks them for every report. Choose Monthly or Yearly: both are subscriptions that renew automatically until you cancel, and both unlock exactly the same features. The app shows the price for your country before you subscribe. Open Toolkit → Fire Toad Pro to subscribe.
- New iPhone? Open Toolkit → Fire Toad Pro and tap Restore purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account.
- Cancelling: your subscription is managed in your Apple Account settings. Open Toolkit → Fire Toad Pro → Manage subscription, or Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Cancel at least 24 hours before it renews to avoid being charged for another month or year. Pro stays on until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Switching between monthly and yearly: in the same place (Manage subscription, or Settings → your name → Subscriptions), choose the other plan. Apple makes the change and shows you when it starts, and Pro carries on without a break.
- Bought Fire Toad before version 1.3? Pro is included for you at no extra cost, for good. Toolkit → Fire Toad Pro shows it as active.
- Refunds are handled by Apple: go to reportaproblem.apple.com.
Backing up
Open Toolkit → Backup & restore and tap Save a backup. Fire Toad saves everything, including photos and companies, in one file. On a new phone, use Restore from a backup and pick that file. The dashboard reminds you if you haven't backed up for 30 days.
Your data
Everything is stored on your device. There's no account or cloud copy, so save a backup regularly (see above). Deleting the app deletes your records. See the privacy policy.
Important
Fire Toad is a record-keeping and reference tool. It does not assess, certify or accredit, and its report is not the statutory form. Always assess against the building's fire safety schedule and your own licensed copies of the standards.
